I have to make a home page for work where USA visitors will see one index page with information tailored to them, and users from Europe will see a different index page tailored for them.
Can anyone advise where I would start on this please?

I don’t know how familiair you are with server site scripting (PHP, Coldfusion etc) but I think yor best bet is some kind of a GeoIp script, which would help you to determine where a visitor is coming from. There are some webservices available. Just google for Geoip.
