Help Naming/Styling link to Inbox

In my Page Header, I just added a new link to the user’s Message Inbox like this…

Hello, Debbie! 6 New Msgs | My Account | Help | Log Out

I could use some advice on…

1.) What to call the link to draw the User’s attention to it, so they can see when they have new messages

2.) How to style it (e.g. standard blue hyperlink, maybe red, bold, etc)

On a related note, how do I get the star - in the screenshot below - to move to the left of the link 6 New Msgs??

Here is the code I have so far…

	$newMessageCount = getNewMessageCount($dbc, $sessMemberID);
	if ($newMessageCount > 0){
		// New Messages.
		$inboxMessage = "$newMessageCount New Msgs";
		// No New Messages.
		$inboxMessage = "Inbox";

	// Display Member Hot Links.
	echo "<ul id='accountMenu'>
			<li id='inboxLink'>
				<img src='/images/Star_Red_20x20.png' width='20' alt='' />
				<a href='/account/messages.php?msgview=incoming'>$inboxMessage</a>
			<li><a href='/account/my_account.php'>My Account</a></li>
			<li><a href='#'>Help</a></li>
			<li id='last'><a href='/account/log_out.php'>Log Out</a></li>

And here are my Styles…
