Google PR dropped from 5 to 4, then from 4 to 0

Hi all,

I have a client website that has seen a drastic drop in Google PR, from 5 to 0 in a few month period.

I have checked the site, there is nothing that would suggest why this has happened, there are a couple more keywords than is recommended, the title tag is a little longer than the recommended 66 characters, in both instances not majorly more, I am correcting this now.

However, this seems like a drastic drop. The site itself has very few inbound links, but this has always been the case.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Maybe the toolbar PR was way out in the past and is closer to the truth now, then. Don’t forget, what you see on the toolbar isn’t the real PR.

Also, it’s not the number of inbound links that matter, it’s the PR they pass. You could have only a few links and still have a high PR yourself.

But based on the limited information you’ve given us, it’s a bit hard to say why this page’s PR appears to have gone down.

Hi hooperman,

Thanks for the information, I understand the information is limited, I will be doing a more thorough audit of the site, I can then hopefully get a better understanding of why it now has a zero page rank.

p.s. good to see your from my homeland, the mighty Manchester.

There’s a few of us here

About the PR drop. Unless you’ve experienced some ranking drops too, or are trying to sell links based on your PR, I wouldn’t worry about it. Your PR can go down whilst rankings and traffic improve.

Also, the toolbar PR can be flaky. Check out this page which has only one weak link to it and an alleged PR of 8: msu.edu/user/norrisho/workwpgs.htm

Does the site sell links?
