Google Indexing Question

Hi all,

I’ve been looking over my account in Google Analytics to find out how people have been finding my site. A keyword that I did not intend to be used (team canada merchandise) places my “Team Canada Apparel” site in the 10th position.

What I don’t understand is why is the term: team canada merchandise picking up my team canada apparel page? As far as I can tell the only instance is the link in the sidebar. If that is the case, how come my main website (team canada hockey) is not being picked up when searching for team canada merchandise?

Could it be keywords in my all-in-One SEO plugin? I recently changed all of my pages to more SEO friendly terms, but I don’t think most have been indexed by Google yet.

Several pages of your site do appear in the results for that term, Google thinks that particular page is the most relevant for that search. Maybe it has a good backlink from somewhere that your other page doesn’t. What keywords you put in your meta tags are irrelevant, they’re not used for anything.

“merchandise” and “apparel” are pretty close synonyms. Google has spent a LOT of time/money etc on getting relevance from word intent and you could be benefiting from this. However I think Dan Grossman is just as accurate (backlink).

Your “team canada apparel” page got lucky.

its because of the keyword “team canada” you are targeting it too, that’s why its coming up… google crawl index kw individually and not by phrase…

you must choice aright and relevant keyword with your’e websites …
it’s very important for google can index your;e website fast …
do some practice to get that : with seo techniques is more faster for google can indexed …

Thanks
