Hi I have Google analytics set up for myself, and I need to add a couple of client sites too. I am using the Google analyticator plugin with Wordpress so that the clients can see their stats in Wordpress itself, while i can have access to all my own sites and clients sites from my google analytics account dashboard. Problem is that clients are able to see even the others sites i’ve developed from their wordpress analytics plugin settings. Do I have to create a new analytics account for each client or is there a more convenient way?
Google Analytics have their own help resources. The information you want can be found here: http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55501
Google Analytics’ User Manager gives you the option to give another user access to all your profiles, or restrict them to only those you specify. This type of access is called ‘View reports only.’ These types of users may only view the reports in the profile you give them access to.
To grant or restrict access to one or more profiles for an existing user:
- Click User Manager
- In the User Type list, find the user to update and click Edit
- Select the profiles to which this user should have access from the Available Website Profiles list
- Click Add to move the selected profiles to the Selected Website Profiles list
- Use Remove to move any profiles away from the Selected… list if access is not required
- Click Save Changes to update this user’s access, or Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving
I have an account set up with my name in the analytics panel as soon as you enter it. Some client accounts are within that account and I want to move them out to the main page in the dashboard, while retaining all the data collected till now. Is this possible?
To clarify they are at the moment website profiles under my account, while i want to make them accounts on their own right instead of website profiles.
is there a way to convert a website profile to a new Analytics Account? (within one Google account)
Not that I’m aware of. Just bite the bullet and shut down the existing profiles. Create new accounts and follow the advice or seriocomic to give them access to only their own accounts.
I’m not sure what the limit is, but there is a limit somewhere around 30 as to how many Analytics accounts you can create for your single Google account. What I do now is create an email address domain.com@gmail.com and then create the Analytics account with this new email address. I can share the Analytics account with my own Google account and the client.
thats a pity, wouldn’t like to use the historic details of visitors. Thanks for your help
Well I suppose you don’t need to delete your old accounts to create new ones. You could keep the old accounts there for archives. Still, you’re not going to have all the data in the same account to more easily compare.
