Google Analytics script not working

If you view the code here, http://itsyourbeautifulday.com/blog/
the appropriate Google Analytics script is listed at the bottom however it doesn’t seem to work. There are no results on the Google Analytics page. I’m assisting someone with this issue. It should be the correct ID# there. I currently have no idea what the problem is. Can anyone tell?

You’re missing part of the code. The part that loads the whole tracking script from Google.

<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>

I think that issue has now been addressed however the person says it’s still not working.

Can anyone decipher what the issue may be?

It can take 24 hours before data propagates. Give it time.

I know, it’s already been 24 hours. We’ve been having lots of problems with this site. Even the WP-plugins didn’t work. I created the theme according to a web designer’s instructions. I can’t tell if there’s something wrong with theme that’s preventing the Google Script from working.

Probably not, but maybe? You have a lot of weird HTML and my browser does complain about it. Stuff like this:

<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">

and a different number of </p> tags.

I don’t know what to say. That’s the owner’s HTML within Wordpress. You know how that goes. I guess what i’m trying to find out is also whether or not stupid things like <p> tags will mess up the google analytics script.

There are a few things that can cause problems.

The analytics code uses write() which won’t work in XHTML pages.
But you’re serving HTML so I don’t think that’s it.

I’m guessing it has something to do with WordPress’ way of having “fancy URLs”.
Essentially in the eyes of Google, all pages are the index page. So the analytics wont show any data for anything other than that. Do you at least have results for the index page?

No results at all actually.

JavaScript doesn’t know how your server-side rewrites are happening. In the eyes of Google, each of the posts has its own URL, just like our browser address bar says. Analytics works fine on WordPress.

Yes, that certainly makes sense. Yet I remember reading something about it a while ago. Maybe it was with non-fancy URLs and I switched them up? Or maybe only with certain stats but not page hits? I tried searching a bit to see exactly what I had read, but no luck finding it again. :frowning:

Anyway, I stand corrected. However,

It’s not at the bottom (just before the </body> tag) but is before the footer div.
Try moving it to the bottom.

That’s one heavy weight page and you don’t want to take any chances that the code runs before the page finishes loading in.
