Will google be using +1 as part of their algorithm? i.e. if you have two websites with the same ranking today, and one site adds +1, will that site with +1 be pushed further up the charts based on the number of likes?

I think not, maybe in the future when Google + work well. I’m using google plus right now and didn’t see any good outcome on it.
I do realize that the Google+1 effect is doing something in the SEO effect but can not really see any difference yet, i think they will make page like FB where people like and share. It is open and more specific.
What makes you “realise” this? Google has never stated that it uses the Google +1 button for ranking anywhere, ever.
It’s also far more open to abuse, and if recent marketing trends are anything to go by it makes the results far less valid. Brands that have tens of thousands of fans don’t get as much as Facebook would like them to indicate, and those that run ads on there are getting returns of around 0.001-0.004%, which is around ten times less than Google’s offerings.
Actually recently i got some really good traffic and in my Google analytic account they show me the visitors form google+ as well. I am not sure it is effect or not but your page get valued or trusted somehow i think. Thanks for your valuable comment.
I read an article before that in future G+1 will be part of Google algorithm. We know that G+1 is from Google. Adding +1 on your site is a good thing that Google will know that your site liked by some one who read or browse your site, it is a big impact to Google.
Official Google blog said that Google +1 button has affect in ranking of sites.

There are high possibilities that Google+ will become SEO parameter…better to start today itself. I tried to put +1 button in my site and no one is doing +1…i think i have to pitch into my Google + profile actively to build targeted people in my circle.
Yes, it is for SEO on long term and already Google had linked the profiles (along with photo) on their SERP !
I also read it before… but it is not official, they said in future it may affect to increase your rank…

it’s not like that google+1 is having great impact on ranking, officially no were says that Google algorithm is using google+1 for ranking, in future it can be possible they use this factor for ranking. better to have google+1 in your website because its drive some traffic to your site.

That is irrelevant to what you’ve stated. Just because you are receiving traffic from sources like Facebook and the Google +1 buttons it doesn’t mean that they’ve become a ranking factor in Google’s algorithm. The level of abuse (as can be seen in the amount of people who post about its use in SEO here) would be far too great for the factor to have any real validity outside of your friend circles.
I’ve had a look over recent posts and nowhere does it state this.
Let’s see, one of my websites is pretty old, almost 7 years old. Until 3 months ago, he had the top three positions for each important keyword in his niche. Since july, my website lost a few positions on the top searches. After a while, I have inserted G +1 on all the important pages of my website. Today after 2 months of G +1 (my visitors clicked those +1s more than the competitors) and now I’m glad to see my position is back in top three on the most important keyword.
Conclusion? I think Yes! Google use this +1 thing to rank pages and if your page has +1s more than the competitors that means is more relevant for your audience and you will outcome your competitors even if you don’t obtain more links to recover the lost positions.
Basically that has certain effect on the site; but it is not so quick. I think the change will appear during the next update of ranking. One thing is must to keep in mined that the ranking does not just related to getting +1; rather traffics and backlinks are also has effects on that.

Of course, If your niche is highly competitive, +1s will not help you very much and you cannot rely on them. Classic seo will help you as always.
There is no loss to add google + in website…so do add it…I think in future may be it will calculate in ranking…May be…
I agree…It is vital for social purpose not for SEO.
May be it will be in future. They will look for the ip addresses from where the +1 is clicked and they calculate it.
