Godaddy hosting keeps going down need new host

Hi,

I run some facebook apps that get over half a million hits a day but since i’ve changed my hosting to godaddy their server goes down a few times a day even though it say’s i’ve got unlimited bandwidth and 99.9% uptime - which clearly isn’t right…

I’ve sent a email to godaddy hosting today which i’m waiting for a reply from as i’m not happy with the service i’m getting.

I previously paid £1.99 for 1 years hosting from a selling on ebay which was perfect, had no problems at all until one day the account disapeared and i lost everything, lucky i had backups!

I just want a reliable hosting services anybody have any recommendations?

You should check

dollar2host ($2/month) and
M2host ($1/month)

Further they have attractive packages with nearly everything required for a perfect hosting.

£1.99 is pretty cheap and it looks like you got what you paid for. GoDaddy is a great registrar, but not so good host. I would look up Host Gator or Blue Host.

I paid £1.99 for cheap hosting from ebay but the seller deleted my account and i cannot track him down, didn’t have any problems with it before that - so went to godaddy paid $54 for a year but the server is always down??

I’m losing out on valuable page views

Is the site just unreachable? Or is it something like a database connection issue?

Well the site goes offline with the classic page cannot be displayed server may be down or permanetly moved…

The 10 mins later it works again - no i don’t use any database connections in the apps.

There is tons of hosts out there, just keep in mind that Sometimes going with bigger company does not necessary mean better quality.

It looks to me like you’re enjoying quite a bit of success… and placing quite a bit of pressure on servers.

I would seriously consider upgrading to something other than shared hosting. Perhaps a fully managed dedicated server?

Very disappointing to hear. They seem to be losing much credibility with customers these days. I personally hated their proprietary control panel.

If I were you, I would read some reviews for hosts who give you cPanel standard and have reasonable up time for shared hosting.

This is an emergency situation. Get yourself another host and change your name server information. Host Gator is good and will bring you the stability you need.

For million hits a day I believe you will need to work out on some kind of custom solutions.

Cheap gets what cheap deserves, if you try to run .5m hits a day off of nickle n dime hosting then it’s not surprising it’s always down.

There’s no rocket science in this:

(: If you want reliability don’t use cheap oversold hosting (“unlimited bla bla”)
:goof: If you want reliability don’t use fly by night no-name companies
:x If you want reliability don’t use rubbish hosting off ebay sold by 12 year olds
:agree: If you want reliability spend an amount that indicates some economic realism in how many people you will be sharing resources with

I got a refund from godaddy in the end…

I then made another mistake of going with dollar2host only for my site to crash again and now they won’t give me a refund they said i violated the acceptable use policy and it took them 2 hours to find why the server behaviour was incorrect and they want $120 for the admin it took if i want a refund - even though it says there was a 30 days money back guarantee… I was with them for less than 24 hours!

I was confused about the “unlimited bandwidth” that it says you get… (live and learn but i now know that isn’t the case)

Anyway my site is now down because i don’t have a host but i’ve brought a dedicated server (professional package) which i have to wait 24 hours to be set up, hopefully i shouldn’t have a problem anymore…

I recomend Bluehost. From my experience they have very good customer service. They are very quick to respond on tickets, emails, and live chats.

well I’m hosting my site from 000webhost for free… their hosting services are pretty good… However their paid hosting plans are upto 4.75$…
just telling you, not suggesting their paid hosting is very good…
