Godaddy defaults to .co now instead of .com

Interesting note–godaddy decided to change their default TLD from the defacto standard of .com to the newer .co TLD.

Note that .co domains are three times more expensive than .com’s and the most expensive out of all the listed TLDs (although .tv is the same price).

Also, private domain registration is not available for .co.

Visiting godaddy.com tends to be hit and miss whether or not you actually get .co as the default or .com as the default. So, it looks like the change hasn’t been fully implemented quite yet.

It’s still .com the default for me. Maybe .co is the default for people from US only?

I suppose that is another marketing trick from them. That was said to attract more attention to their company. My opinion

Could be. I haven’t seen .co load as default in a few days. Maybe they changed their minds?

After all, .co is still owned by Columbia, so technically, they could change their policy and refuse public registrations.
