I have a travel site with user generated content, mostly they publish travel trips and reviews. I was thinking to offer to some site owners the content from our site for free to copy if they put a link inside it. So they can copy our user generated content, if they put a source link inside it.
In this way I will get a lot of links, but on other site the content won’t be any more absolute unique but it will be published also on other sites.
Now I have a question:
Let’s say I make agreement with 10 sites. The reason why I will offer them to get content from our site is only that I will get links. Is having 10 duplicate versions of our content worth of having in each page link to original version? Will I benefit with those links since the content where link will be published will be the same as in our site?
Listen to Wine on this. Don’t give your content to anyone. Google really really doesn’t like duplicate content and like Wine said your site could get penalized for the duplicate content.
But if Google see the source link inside article, wouldn’t treat as the original is on my site?
My another idea is that I choose about 30 articles which I share with others in exchange for a link. And for those 30 I diallow google bot to index it. In this way there is no risk for duplicate because those pages even won’t be indexed from my site. The only disadvantage will be just that I don’t get traffic for those 30 articles, but I can get in this way hundreds of links which is defenitely more value as having 30 articles. What do you think about this idea?
Don’t do it. You will create duplicate content, which Goo. does not appreciate at all. If the other sites are better ranked than yours, your site might even go down in the serps because of the dc.
If you have good topics, you can rewrite the texts, but make sure you do not copy and paste.
