I have a client who has a Flash site which ranks well (page 1 position 2) only for 1 keyword (plus a variation of this keyword) - The keyword is also the domain name.
I am going to be coding another site to replace this one and it will be written in html.
Is there anything I need to do (or not do) to ensure that this site continues to rank well for this sole keyword ?
I have copied the little text and meta descriptions currently on the site and we will be using the same domain name, but a different hosting company.
[FONT=verdana]It seems likely that the reason it is ranking well is that the keyword is part of the URL. That will presumably still be the case after your rewrite. If anything, the ranking should improve, if only because there will be more text for the search engines to get their teeth into. So, no, you don’t need to do anything special to keep the existing ranking. But do take the opportunity to optimise the site for other keywords.
