Basically people know people a-like, this hold true for business.
If you were to advertise your web design company to the masses (e.g. local newspaper, flyer handouts etc.) you’re likely to get all kinds of people inquiring, depending of course where you’re advertising. When resources are scarce and time is crutial this can’t be a good thing.
I recently read an article on Sitepoint which did not recommend discounts to bring customers in, and after some thought I agree considering you’re essentially devaluing what you’re doing. http://www.sitepoint.com/discount-or-value-add/
I was thinking of other ways to promote your business. This could possibly done with every introduction, for instance, every client you introduce you can get the following:
- 10 year domain registration worth x
- Free hosting for 1 - 2 years worth x
- Free Facebook Advertising Campaign worth x
- 15% off your next update
I think this would be an excellent way to bring in more business. Essentially advertising to the masses can waste more were we could of course be spending that time putting our mark on the web.
Does anybody else know any other ways to promote your business? This would make an interesting topic.
