Getting admin access to a wordpress site

Hi

I am new to wordress but i want to learn how to add new pages etc. But the site I want to modify was built and hosted for by an external company, What level of admin access do you need to make changes to pages etc?

Thanks,
David

Hello David, I see it has been three days. I’d imagine you might have your answer, but just in case.
It depends on what changes you wish to make.
Here is some quick info
https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
and a fast excerpt:

Summary of Roles
Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features. See the Create a Network article.
Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.

Now what is not entirely clear is how much access you already have. If you can log in, access the wp-admin panel, go to users and change your role to admin. You are set. If not you’d have to contact whoever has that power and have them make you an admin.
Hope this was helpful.
