Morning Folks!

i am creating a buy and sell website for Sri Lankan buyers and sellers.
i don’t care about intentional traffic.
my domain name is a .com and not a .lk.

Now say i have this keywords in the meta keywords section.

“buy and sell,classifieds, free ads online,for sale by owner,sell used cars,realstate online”. these are the keyowrds for general buy and sell

if you look at the above keyowords, they all are general, nothing specific to sri lanka. so my question is, to target sri lanka market, do i need to put sri lanka infront of all the keywords ?

meta keyword have noting to do with your site indexing in Search Engines nowadays.
If you want to geo target your website, write the content specifically for your targeted country. Your content should mention the geolocation of the targeted area in your case sri lanka. Use geo & dublin (DCMI) meta tags for your site. Add your site in google places. It helps.

  1. As your site has an international TLD (.com), it has to be hosted in Sri Lanka and/ or be geotargeted “Sri Lanka” in your google webmaster account.

This is of primary importance if Sri Lanka is the target country.

Hosting is effective for all search engines. Geotargeting google webmaster account is effective for google only.

If you do not host the site in Sri Lanka, it must be geotargeted Sri Lanka in webmaster account.

  2. Get backlinks from Sri Lankan sites.
