Freelance websites that allow underage

It’s important to remember here that the question is not just of @wowse’s wishes, rights and welfare, but those of his potential clients.

As I mentioned before, he is too young to enter into a legal contract with a client. Anybody hiring him therefore needs to be aware of his age. If, once they have the facts, they are still happy to go ahead (with a parent managing the business side of things, as @kohoutek says), then that’s fine. But it’s important to be honest with clients at the outset - especially if you’re hoping for repeat business.

I admire the hustle and the passion. At your age, I was holding out cardboard Domino pizza sign at the street for free pizza.

If I were you, I’d work on a portfolio as most people won’t trust 14 year olds. You probably need to show proof that you have the skills to complete the job other then just saying ‘I know HTML/CSS/Javascript’. You can do this by

A) Visit your local store who doesn’t have a web site or has a really crappy one and offered to do it for free. Once it’s done, make sure to have a contractual agreement for maintainance fee. Ex. $10/hr to maintain the site

B) Think of a project that relates to your hobby. Make a site about that.

What you don’t want is to STOP coding. Always code

Yep! I’m working on a portfolio of mine, I’ve got some open source projects. As I didn’t find any site with freedom for underages, I now work as a front-ender in a little start-up my acquaintances decided to start, not sure how it’ll go though. I also study advanced Haskell and Scheme
