I have a website with over 300 pages, the website template / layout design changes frequently and it takes too much time to change every page. Currently site uses Joomla.
Joomla code is horrible and looking to do an upgrade, there are so many cms out there.
Can anyone make any suggestions? Ability to easily extend the code is important as well as displaying custom code “xhtml, css, java, php etc” in pages with out using iframes.
Also important that a shopping cart “as well as a billing… if possible” component is available and that the system is easy / fast to implement changes like joomla or better, not like drupal.
The only benefit CakePHP or Zend might have over Joomla is they offer more bare bones functionality, whereas Joomla, or Drupal you sometimes have to find workarounds for things you might take as granted in your own development style.
Joomla, I like it’s component architecture, but Drupal has some amazing extensibility for very little effort, although getting every single HTML bit just right seems to drive me batty occcassionally.
You might want to take a look at this - it’s got the backing of a lot of web design glitterati, plus it has content management elements and a lovely user admin area. http://www.tradingeye.com/
A trade-off of using a CMS is customization for automation. That is going to be the case with any third-party CMS you use. Its just something you have to accept when using tools and hack as necessary to achieve things that the system was not really designed to accomplish.
