See the FB, Twitter & RSS Feed buttons on top right of my homepage? Click them, and all that happens is a hash tag appears after my URL in address bar. Where inside my admin would I go to fix this?
You have this in your page source:
<div id="social">
<ul class="footer-social">
<li class="facebook"><a href="#" class="notext">Facebook</a></li>
<li class="twitter"><a href="#" class="notext">Twitter</a></li>
<li class="rss"><a href="#" class="notext">RSS</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
I don’t use WP, but that looks to me as if it’s part of your page structure, so you just need to locate it and replace the “#” with the correct URL.
The other possibility is that it’s a widget for adding social share buttons, in which case you would find it among the widgets and edit the URL from there.
great on this! So long as I can edit this manually…I can point those links to any specif page(s) I want. Wasn’t sure. I need to find out best way to locate source code like you showed. I have two browsers - Chrome + Firefox. I have tried the Firebug extension but seems so clumsy when looking for things, there are all those CSS, HTML etc. tabs. Really appreciated knowing this is “editable”!
follow up…go to the FB & Twitter buttons and click if you have time: https://danscartoons.com (upper right corner)…do they open OK for you? As for adding RSS, I understand there may be two separate feeds for a WP site? What do you suggest is best one? Curious. (found this in “header.php” file btw…UGH, why didn’t I think of this at first?
See screenshot below…I added links for FB & Twitter. Those icons don’t open to the page they are intended for…only get that hash tag in my address bar…did I do anything wrong?
As I said before, I don’t use WP, but are you sure you saved that correctly? The source code on your page is still just showing the # as before.
thanks for trying…I’ll ask another forum relating to wordpress. I appreciated your trying…
I expect if you’re patient somebody will be able to answer you here. It’s always quiet on Sundays (otherwise I’d just have left it for someone more knowledgeable ).
I haven’t done anything to my settings in wp-admin but if you click those FB & T icons, they open to the appropriate pages (at least in my browser)…do they in yours? I ask, because I did nothing…and wonder why they did not work at first? Wordpress is a weird platform…I still can’t figure it out…strange
It can be convenient to blame caching for things that have a delayed reaction
I’m sorry to say, I don’t even see your social icons…
Can you look at screenshot and tell me? My next question would relate the the RSS feed? What is best to add? I know there are more that one URL in regards to an RSS feed, so curious about which one to add to that RSS icon. Let me know if you find them Gand…
Okay, I get those in a different browser. We’ll have to put the fact I can’t see them in my number 1 browser down to its cache!
For RSS, I thought WordPress created an RSS feed automatically, although I’ll be jiggered if I know how to find it, I’m afraid. Hopefully, a more experience WP person will be along soon…
Yes, they do now.
Al lot more than one.
