Fixed Width Shrinks Pixels!

I designed a website using simple percentages, so there was a 15% padding from the left and the centre was 70% wide. But I noticed that when I shrunk the page it squashed everything together.

So I created a fixed width template using a template website and put all the code from my previous design into the fixed width template but it has now shrunk everything including the size of text which is in pixels.

I dont understand how putting previous code into a fixed width area would shrink it.

Can anyone advise please?

Try changing the text sizes so that they are measured in ems rather than pixels. That way, you should get a constant text size for a give screen size. As the user zooms the page, the text will expand or contract accordingly, which is what you want.

Apart from what Mikl said, if your problem still persists, we will need to see the online page where this is happening.

it has now shrunk everything including the size of text which is in pixels.

W/o going into detail about how text in PX is a travesty, I find this an odd behaviour as container size (or sizing) should never affect text size, although the reverse easily occurs. wonder if the issue was explained wrong?
