We host our own ecommerce unix based site, however, recently our T1 connection went down and we had no failover in place. Does anyone have best case scenarios for failover protection? From DNS to Co location, short term and long?

I don’'t know much about hosting, but I assume this is what ‘cloud hosting’ is about. Your files have access to many computers, so are not so hampered by hardware failure. (I’m happy to be proved wrong, though. And I guess this is not much help to you if you are running your own servers.)
