Enterprise UI

Hi Sitepoint,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what [technologies] are being used for these flashy, enterprise-level applications and UI experiences. For example: Amazon WS, harvestapp, blist, sprout, 5pm project mgmt, google apps, etc.

Are these UI’s just xhtml over a jquery ui (or similar)?

Yep, it’s usually HTML and a javascript framework. Or, sometimes.

If you look at the page’s source, you can see what library it’s linked to.

Or, There is a firefox extension that detects the framework libraries in use and shows the results in the status bar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10083/

Sometimes, flash is integrated into the app in certain places (for instance, google maps’ street view is flash)

Hi, if you are looking for enterprise class UI experience, take a look at: http://www.sencha.com/products/js/
