Editing out a link after posting here in Sitepoint

Hi I would like to post a link to a site that I need a little help with but would like to be able to edit my post to remove the link later so it isn’t in the website traffic to be seen by the client later, it seems you ain’t able to edit a post after someone’s made a reply?

Am I able to report the post later and ask for the link to be removed?

Cheers

Making any edits after a certain amount of time will be recorded. What I mean by that is that there is an edit history after a certain amount of minutes. Once in the edit history, people can see what you’ve added and removed such as removing links or words or codes.

So it’s better to post the link as blahblah dot com as opposed to blahblah.com. I’m not concerned with people of this community seeing it, my worries is the client and google.

Cheers

The edit window is 5 hours. However, you can flag the post in question sans ask that the link be removed if 5 hours have already passed.

@cpradio thanks. Good to know

IMHO bettter to do a “blahblah dot com” or even a “bla hbl ah dot c om” straight away. Links can be edited out of posts here, but once a search engine has content, they have the content. Getting the link removed, the site un-indexed, from search engines is likely impossible.

Moderators can “hide” edit history, if required. It’s not something we would do routinely, but if somebody has inadvertently posted log-in details or other sensitive information, we have the option to ensure it’s not publicly viewable.
