Ecommerce for CD Store?

The Issue:
I want to open up a CD store for the island i’m from (in the pacific). I’ve been looking into it for a while now, and have tested out most of the major ecommerce scripts/services (that i know of). But i can’t seem to find any that is flexible enough to sell CD’s. I mean they can sell CD’s, but I was hoping to find something that allows sample audio for each CD.

Question:

Is there any ecommerce scripts that offer features specific to selling CD’s? If not, do you have any advice?

Hmmmm …going head to head with
iTunes …sounds tough.

But I would get a simple cart and
then place the “samples” on the website
rather than the cart itself.

If you do it this way, it’s really easy and
then you can test your business model at
a low cost.

If you start selling well, then consider some
custom integration.

Yes going against iTunes would be tough hehe. But this is just a small website for this little island i speak of. The thing is, the island is kind of it’s own little world. And there’s many local artists making their own albums that the islanders, who reside elsewhere in the world, have trouble buying. So i’m not really going against itunes, just making a somewhat personalized version for this island and the musicians.

Anyways thank you for your suggestions, i really appreciate them. So a simple cart just to handle the payments, and just post the samples manually per album/song?

That sounds very possible, and if anything i might just do that. However, I was hoping to find a script that would automate these sample while organizing them too.

Another question if you don’t mind: If i cant find such a script, I might look into hiring a pro. Do you have any suggestions on that sort of thing? As far as where to find one, and how much to expect to pay for it?

These may be some very broad questions, but any help would be greatly appreciated…
