Hey I’m setting up a business website for a client, just thought I would ask advice for best e-mail solution.
They have about 700 users on their newsletter list. And they send out an E-mail maybe twice a month.
They are hosting with godaddy but their e-mail is very unreliable, and you can only send to 100 users at a time.
Any recommendations to an email service that will allow use to send emails showing our domain name (info@domainexample.com), and we can send to a bulk of people in one shot?
A free solution is great if it really works good. We don’t mind paying for a good service though.
Also is there some kind of plugin or extension on wordpress that may be an option? So they can log into the wordpress backend and go to their mail box from there?
Yes, there are lots of services like that. The two I’m most familiar with are CampaignMonitor and MailChimp. I think the latter allows for some free mailing, but either way, the cost is very low (around 1c per email). Certainly some of them have add-ons for CMSes like WordPress so that you can access them from that interface, although these services have really nice interfaces anyway which I prefer to use.
I am surprised at the lack of input anyone has on the subject… I’m also a bit confused how google searches on the topic do not answer any of my question or provide any solutions… I figured E-mail marketing would be pretty straight forward and accessible. I’ve actually called 3 different companies including googles sales team, and can’t get a hold of anyone. It seems like there are no email services out there for this simple task, even when I would be willing to pay just about any amount of money at this point.
I did sign up to mail chimp, but there is very little explanation on the site and it didn’t inform me how to get anything setup.
I have setup an account with zoho. Was a cool webmail client, but it also only lets me send to 100 users at a time and a maximum 250 per day. I don’t know about their paid for accounts because every time I call or email their sales team they don’t get back to me or answer their phones.
I have been working on this for almost 3 days now. How on earth is the newsletter issue eluding me so badly when I KNOW that so many webmasters, and seemingly the entire internet is sending out newsletters/bulk emails/campaigns??
Someone has to know a solution. Especially on this site… My patience is lost lol, I can’t get paid until this is figured out, thats the most aggravating part.
Actually at this point I guess asking for help is out of the question (this is my 4th forum posing this question), can someone just explain to me how YOU send out email? What services are you using? …I dont even want help anyone, siply how the heck are you doing it? Cause its impossible apparently… ehhh im gonna go get drunk.
I use CampaignMonitor, and I find it great. It’s really easy to use. Set up an account, import your mailing list, and they give you a simple form to paste onto your site for collecting signups. Couldn’t be easier. There’s a ton of other features, like email templates and so on. I’m not saying the others don’t do the same thing, just that this is the one I use and it works well.
I can easily help you with the setup for that service if you need it, but not with the others.
But yes, there is a ton of information on Google about this, so perhaps you were just unlucky with your search terms.
Ok Ralph thanks for the vote of confidence, sorry to sound like a whiny baby…
I will take a deep breath and go try CampaignMonitor right now. Fingers crossed that they actually have their **** together… Obviously I’m doing something wrong. I guess I just expect it to be easier than what its all turning out to be haha
Yes, there’s always a bit of a learning curve, to be sure, but not too steep in this case. Normally with CM you’d set up a developer account and run your client accounts through that, but you can also just set one up for the client instead. It’s up to you and the client.
I don’t find the CM layout totally intuitive, but it’s easy enough to find out where everything is. Just ask if you need any help.
err I lied, I said I would pay any amount of money at this point, but not $30 a month. lol.
About $50 a year is my limit I suppose. The newsletter is nothing special - so lowballing it is ideal… I know that googles business email account is in that price range but they will not answer my inquiries about it, nor do they say anything specific, so I don’t know if it will actually do what I want it to do (which honestly isn’t much).
Ah, the monthly payment is a new option, which I haven’t seen before. There’s still the option to pay per campaign, which is what I use. The client just pays every time a campaign is sent. $5 + 1c per email. So mailing out to 700 people would cost $12. That’s not bad, IMHO. The account itself is free.
