i am doing a business paper for my class and my topic is on E commerce. does anyone feel as though E commerce has taken the fun out of shopping
Shopping shouldn’t be fun, you get what you need for as little as you can.

I’d strongly disagree vassilevsky. Shopping is an experience… for some that experience is very transactional, but for others it can be more important than the actual product. This is something etailers often overlook and forget… Sure it may feel like getting the user from A to B is all that matters but if there’s nothing exciting it’s harder for the customer to feel the drive to complete the path.
ECommerce is lacking some of the experience found in retail which is why you see progressive and innovative brands working to bring more video, photo experiences, reviews, even social content to make it something that while perhaps not the most “fun” activity is an experience customers like.
I think its a different kind of fun. It also depends on what you want. if you like to be able to browse products in detail, read reviwes, watch videos and not be rushed by a pushy sales rep then I believe it has made it more fun
Shopping Online is becoming more fun with offerings such as GroupOn and other similar programs. I don’t like to go to an actual store and shop, so online shopping is a god-send and it’s improving all the time! It’s getting so much easier to sell items and set it up.
I’m also excited about products like “Square” for the iPhone so that almost anyone can accept a credit card payment. We live in some exciting times!
I don’t think shopping has gotten any less exciting. Physical shopping involves traffic, people, and movement (not that much fun).
Online shopping allows you to browse stuff at your leisure, there’s more choice, better value (and prices) plus if it’s digital goods, instant delivery. If it does require delivery it’s still fine as well (as you get the excitement of knowing your stuff is coming to your door). Whenever I’m on my iPhone I enjoy finding a cool new app and buying it (then getting the instant gratification of being able to use it right away). Basically… I would say if anything it’s now more fun!
thank you every one for all your posts. they are very helpful and insightful and it seems like most people prefer the online shopping which is understandable as life has become too busy and its now all about convenience.
