I have a blog at WordPress, now I made another one at typepad there was an option of importing the blog from word press so all the content get imported.
Please give me idea that will it put any bad impact from search engine point of view at my blogs as the content get duplicated over here.
at wordpress it is <snip>Link deleted</snip> and the imported location is <snip>Link deleted</snip> I have no any idea about search engine optimization so expert advise please.
First, this is the content forum, not the SEO forum. Your question is better suied for SEO.
Second, it would be good if you could search or if you read the important threads in each forum. Many of them have tips that will help you quite a bit and probably will save you from asking … or repeating a question that so many people have done in the past
Third, and last nobody can answer such a generic question. Although the basics are quite simple (please, visit the important threads in the SEO forum, right at the top) the specifics could fill hours and hours of reading/writing. It is impossible to give the info you request in just one post.
That’s why we always ask all of you to keep your questions specifics, and that you let us know what you’ve tried and what you haven’t and why.
Thread moved from Web Writing, as it is a Search engine question about moving content, not writing it.
Is your content live on both the platforms… If yes, It is duplicate content.
after the google panada update, google is more and more strict on duplicate content. It will give no link juice or penalty on the deulicate content.coz it will bring visitor bad visiting impression.
If your content or some part of a content is already live in some other place than its a duplicate content.
If you have same content on both sides it is duplicate content.
For duplicate your site may get penalized by Google.
So avoid duplicate content.
Yes, i tried it once, and i did not even duplicate the whole thing, just the way the meta title and title tag is laid out. I got penalized real badly and my page rank went from 5 to 3 but its back to 5 now after writing several letters to Google =)
The only ‘penalty’ the search engines apply to duplicate content is to ignore it. Only the first copy of the content that they found gets indexed.
I think i got complained by the site i was trying to mirror for SEO purposes. Haha, but its all good now, great learning experience.
Duplicate content is when you have more than one copy of your own content. What your talking about is plaigiarism/theft, which is a whole different ball game.
Dude, you dont get it, i am talking about changing the meta title and title tag.
At first, i just lay out my site’s title, after that i try to mirror how some people lay out their title tag like Free Stuff | Freebies | Free Samples.
Not too long after, i got penalized, why? I typed my site’s title and a bunch of other sites came up. Understand? I am not really duplicating the CONTENT, just the way the title tag is USED. I dunno if Google will penalize for that but based on my own observations and tweaking, i know after changing the stuff and writing to Google, they reinstated my site. Tell me about it, SEO Guru of the year 2010.
Ah, gotcha. I’d misunderstood what you meant.

Assuming you’d just used the same format as the other site, but had used your own words, I don’t think it’s going to be that that’s caused it. What might have caused the site to fall is if you’d used the same <title> and <meta> tags on all your pages. They should be unique to each page, as far as possible – if you’re using the same tags on every page then that could explain the drop.
It did sound like you were making a mirror site.
