Two words Andy: “National Security”

In my mind nothing should be controlled, the market (and the net is a market), should be open to any person or group to say what they want to say. The control should come through boycott only, that includes a rejection of clients to host certain things. But there will always be these people who are too lazy to make these kinds of decisions for themselves, they want other people to take care of the undesired and create laws to forbid it. Same old same old.

So far the net is still pretty free in most countries, hopefully it will stay that way, but I have serious doubts about it.

Oh, they will, until they get so bloated that a slim new guy can step in

Has always happened with companies. But this is a new sort of environment, things might develop differently.

Oh, I am used to 3.14. Works fine for me  and then you have to divide if you need just one with your system. I do not see why it would make it easier really, 2x3.14 is almost automatic 6.28 in one thought without trying really, unless you are not used to doing this in your head.

We had to learn multiplying all in the head, for years we did that, it sure is helpful if you can do that. An automatic set of numbers built into your brain

I wonder why pi is 3.14… instead of 6.28… so many equations with 2pi in them would be simplified, and I think learning trig would actually be easier.

Able to select my own collars, and pick out my own bells! Meow

Pi isn’t 3.14, so memorizing 6.28 doesn’t make working with equations any easier. You’re generally not going to want to convert it to a rounded number until the very end of whatever you’re doing if at all.

If pi were double what it is… a quadrant of a circle would be a quarter pi radians, a third of a circle a third pi radians… wouldn’t that make so much more sense when teaching the meaning of pi and the unit circle to kids???

Just look at all the important series and formulas of math and physics… fourier series, gaussian normal distribution, ampere’s law, coulomb’s constant, planck’s constant, the sum of the exterior angles of all polygons, the periods of sin and cos… look at all those extra 2’s to make up for a bad definition of pi! So much work and learning would be simplified if the extra coefficient were gone.

We got turtles around here of course too. The big Gopher Turtles, Snapping Turtles, those slick looking ones that pile on submerged tree trunks. The Box Turtles are all over as well. I often feed them some juicy green stuff, they also like cat food, we give them names even. The little ones I pick up, they are soooo cute

They do have enemies, our Hawks for one, the Crows and cars.

It is nice to watch creatures live their lives. I enjoy that a lot. We have a family of squirrels living right in the big tree in the front yard. The little ones chase each other, have wrestling matches, run like lightening, all right out of my window. What fun it is.

So, uh how about them Cubs? (As in the baseball team.)

How much does a movie ticket cost in your place???

Here it costs just 35 Rs

1$ = 44 Rs (approx.)

Yeah… and when earnings dont rise with inflation, the people become angry.

Yes.

Since we are mighty powerless at this point to do something about it, I was just sitting here and musing how much of the money people save is really not being multiplied because of this inflation. The interest rates are not high enough to make up for this inflation. And how in a way what you save over a lifetime to support yourself later on, is not going to be worth much at all.

PS. …and compounding is not that great to make up a lot, it does of course, but the impression seems that it is higher than it actually is in reality.

It starts getting dark at 10pm but not fully a night until about 11pm. The first signs of dawn are seen at around 3:40am (right about now  ) along with first birds singing – a sign to go to bed for me.

I know about those long days Saulius, and those short nights, my father talked about those.

In Florida we have rather long nights in the summer. About 8:30 to 9:00 the sun goes down, it comes up around 6:30, I guess, sleep longer than that, do not like to wake up early

In our summer the sun goes down around 9:30pm and comes up just after 5am. I love it.

You get up early though, Sarah?

I’m at the gym by 5:30 every morning.

I admire that a lot. I always wanted to get up early, but my body clock fails me. When I used to work for other people (oh so long ago), or go to school earlier on, I was absolutely miserable because of the early hours. I thaw around noon time, I stay up late as well, was always a night person.

We are all wired in a different way I guess, and all the wishing to change it will not work.

I’m one of those fortunate people that only needs 4 or 5 hours sleep per night.
