Dreamweaver CS5 Templates

Hello,

This isn’t the first time I have created a template for pages that i would need to build however it is considering im using CS5 (Had studio 8 previously).

So, I have built a new template with css. Everything looks fine and i am ready to start building pages off of it. When I create a new page using the template all of my relative links are gone. So instead of having something like this:

…/pages/home/home.html

I have something like

file:///C|/Documents and Settings/… and so on. That link is on Everything.

When I used the templates in previous versions I did not have this problem. The relative links were kept intact.

Any ideas on how i could fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don’t know if this is the answer, but when you set up a site in Dw, under Local Info, you choose whether to make links relative to Document or Site Root.

Check which is selected. If site root, then change it to document.

I don’t use Dw templates, so I’ve never really seen if this setting affects them, but it’s worth a try.

Hi Ralph, thanks for the suggestion however that option is selected for the images i have on the page. See I don’t know what it is, in dreamweaver 8, it does exactly what I need it to do. I open a page using a template and the relative links are kept as soon as I save it, with no problem. With CS5 its not the case and I have been searching all over to fix this problem sigh. Guess I should look into a CMS. Thanks for your help

This may be too obvious but you will see the links like that until you save the page. DW then converts them to the “proper” format you are expecting.
