Not sure of the right topic but this is a question I’m sure many of us have had for a while and I can’t think of any simple way to do this other than some special custom coded project. There is a web page I’m trying to download with many comments which get loaded by ajax commands (view more, view all links). I can expand all of them manually but they can’t be downloaded in one page properly. Converting to PDF doesn’t even seem to capture the comments properly. I’m wondering if there is a plugin, code, application or something else that others can suggest that might do this - even downloading the page as a simple HTML page with everything expanded would be sufficient. Thanks to all and any suggestions.
Thanks - thought of that but doesn’t work. To try one good popular example, try YouTube comments.
Is this the site you are trying to download the comments from?
Could you provide a link to the appropriate page.
Try this as an example… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ9Xt5PohgU
If it’s the comments you are after you can get all of them here:
https://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=gJ9Xt5PohgU
Otherwise consider using a tool like TubeKit
Thanks - unfortunately the comments are not all loaded, as you can see by the “view all replies” button that requires pressing and loading. The toolkit looks interesting, albeit complicated but it is perhaps the only solution I’ve seen. Once I can figure out how to get the data in, the issue will be how to get the data out in a manner that is easily able to be viewed! Thanks for the suggestions though as I’ve at least got a starting point.
Bummer, doesn’t seem to work for those watching. There is another fork but doesn’t look promising. Good idea though.
