does anybody know of a good domain reseller solution?
how’s enom?

is any of you a domain reseller?

I’m trying to get started, but I’m not sure what a good way would be.
I mean, is it hard becoming a registar? is going with a domain reseller solution a better choice?

But is there any domain reseller that does not require some type of money upfront, either a deposit or a type of fee? Either you do not understand how it works or you are simply not ready for it.

If you are just starting and will be registering just a few domains for yourself or clients, then you can simply get a direct client account at a company such as Enom or Godaddy. You do not get a reseller account unless you are sure of some type of volume. We started registering domains with a client account at Namecheap, after getting over 200 domains, and when our hosting company new clients were totalling at least 10~20 domains per week, at that time only that we got a resellerclub account.

The main advantages for a reseller account are the automation and the low fees (due to volume). You need to have some type of deposit with the registrar so that when your clients purchase on your website the domain is registered directly with the registrar without your need to log in to pay 8 or 10$ each time. We have two hosting brands, when our clients purchase on our websites, upon payment the domain is registered at RC through the API we have set up in WHMCS (which is the billing system we use).

I think that’s crazy that you have to have money upfront.

I bet the most money they make with people not selling any domains

And it any case it is better than Godaddy’s domain reseller offers where you are charged almost 100$/year regardless of how many domains you sell.

You will need to check with them if they have a refund policy, I do not know about that. I guess you need to have done your homework and be serious about their service before signing up with them.

I suppose the choice of your domain name registrar for reselling will depend on the startup payment which you are supposed to pay for them?

  1. I am with them for last 6 years without a single complaint.
  2. No fee at all - I never paid any fee and never kept any deposit at all. I do not know why people propagate like that. In fact, I was not having my own domain previously and selling the domains from their own system; but after some times I bought my own domain and now it is working fine. So even if you do not have your own domain you can sell domains and all other services offered by them.

As a test, you can join them through us and then go directly when you think proper or when you have your own domain.

You probably misunderstood. The initial deposit is not a fee but rather is to be used to purchase domains. The more your initial deposit history with them the cheaper you get your domains from them. You can check the pricing details from http://www.resellerclub.com/pricing

We have hundreds of domains with RC and never had any complaint. Integrates well with WHMCS so it is great for hosting companies as well.

I read a lot of bad reviews http://www.webhostingstuff.com/review/ResellerClub.html , and they do want to you to give them a fee to get started (which is kind of crazy you have to put a deposit to start selling).

Everything has tow sides,and we always complain the bad experience in forums rather than the nice news,am I right?
TBH,if you want to be domain reseller.And at the meanwhile,you can provide hosting service.That would be more preferable.

choice will depend on how reputable the company is, and how good their API is.

if deposit is 10,000 that could be a problem, but I think we’re talking about much lower amounts.

it is hard to get ICAAN accreditation? I mean, is it hard for a company to become a registar? is that a lot of money?

I used Enom (many years ago) for domain name registration. I believe now they as good as used to be for the resellers.
