Domain name and hosting is bought from two companies. Will it affect SEO?

I have a domain name registered with Godaddy and hosting space purchased with another local hosting provider company. My domain name is mapped to the hosting package I have purchased. I just want to make sure that will it make any adverse affect on SEO of my site if the domain name and hosting space lies with different companies? I am sure out of thousands of factors that search engine considers, the domain mapping must be an important one.

What are the factors to be considered/ precautions to be taken for better search engine ranking when building websites this way? Thanks in advance.

Keeping the two separate is the only real precaution you need to take. It protects you against any problems with the hosting company as if there are problems you can easily get new hosting, upload the site there and redirect the domain.

It has no impact whatever on anything else.

Do you mean to say it is an ideal practice in order to take precaution against possible problems with unprofessional hosting providers? If yes, then I need to do this every possible time I create a website (till now I was believing that having domain name and hosting from single company is ideal only)!

The other benefit is that some companies are primarily domain registrars who offer hosting as a side business while others are web hosting providers who offer domains as a side business. You’ll get better service from those where you are dealing with them with their main business.

Having both your domain and web hosting with a hosting provider is a reasonable alternative where you prefer to deal with one company - since you likely don’t need the missing domain services. Having both with a domain provider means you will be missing many of the hosting options you are likely to need.

Who is your domain registrar or where is your website hosted should NOT effect rankings. Just make sure you’re hosting on a good company and so forth the normal practices… hostagor for hosting I use, and namecheap for domain registrar, yes they’re two separate.

There are thousands of factors yes that effect search engines, but they’re too minor to even consider, the only factor is basically offpage factors, then those so called onpage factors… offpage factors related to link building.

[FONT=verdana]An advantage of using the same company both for hosting and domain registration is that you will get a single set or renewal notices and a single renewal invoice. If you run many sites, that could perhaps make a difference to your admin costs.

But, to go back to your original question, none of this has got anything to do with SEO. Whether you use separate companies or the same company, it’s not going to make a scrap of difference to your search engine rankings.
