A bit confused folks and need your urgent suggestions. I have a site penismissing.com which at first glance looks like “***** missing”. But the theme of the site is “Pen Is Missing” - a personal blog for techno stuffs and writings.
Do you think I can optimize the site properly, without hazards and give a good ranking on Google? Plz advice if it’s acceptable domain for Good Search Engine Ranking as a Non-Adult Site - at this point I have to worry about those link exchange campaigns, Blog Comments linkbacks, Forum posts, Article backlinks… Do you think the domain works fine as ‘non Adult’ site only based on the content?
Plz help…
Why did you name it that, when it could be so easily misconstrued as an adult website? If it’s that much of a worry could you not just get another, better targeted domain for your site?
I’m with ULTiMATE here. Maybe it could work, but why risk it? Personally I’d go for another name. Something like missingpen, or something like that. Assuming that is available of course.
Plus, with a name like this you run into the chance that company firewalls and parental check programs etc will block your website because of the p-word. Which would be a shame, because that’s less visitors for you.
Basically it’s not my site. My client owns it and want me to host the domain and do the SEO work. I don’t do adult hosting and adult SEO. So, I’m not sure whether My Server IPs may get negative impressions (kind of blacklisting) on search engines or not. I agree with ULTiMATE and ScallioXTX that for sure firewalls and parental programs will block it because of the keyword. I have to advice my clients, as he’s not pro in SEO. So what do you think from SEO aspects? May it have negative impact?
To be honest, if people were to treat it like a pen website and its content was geared towards its audience I don’t think that Google would make the assumption. However, the likes of Pen Island have received countless “high-value” links from humou sites because of its suggestible domain name, and I’d be willing to bet that most of the traffic that site gets is is from people just looking for a laugh.
To answer your question, no one can really say for sure. I’d say that it would probably have no bad effect, but I would seriously recommend that your client purchase another domain in case it does end up being suggested as an adult site.
