Divs not working in IE 8+

Hi,

I am new to this forum - thank you for looking at this for me. I am self-taught, not a professional website developer, but I have created and continue to update a website for friends which has been working successfully for a while. I have recently created a new page which looks fine in Safari and older IE browsers but seems to go wrong on later versions of IE.

Images which are supposed to go from left to right in the centre of the page are going downwards instead. The layout is all managed in a CSS style file with the use of divs. The divs are meant to float left and there is space for them so it is not as if they are being pushed downwards due to lack of space.

The strange thing is that it even looks OK when the file is opened on my desktop PC, it is only when looking at it online after being uploaded that the problem occurs.

Any ideas as to why this would be happening?

Many thanks!

I made a mistake… deleted comment.

I just checked on my PC in IE8 and I don’t see anything out of the ordinary. It might possibly be a cache issue, try clearing it.

Why? She/he posted a link to the page that was effected. That link is one to the homepage.[/ot]

Hi,

Here is one of the pages that is affected:

Cupcakes - The Little Cupcake Company - Wedding Cupcakes - Bridal Colours Wedding Cupcakes

The other pages affected are the Wedding Cupcakes page and the other pages in that range.

The top, left, right and bottom of the page are inserted with php include files which do not appear except when online - but even when I tested the page without those include files, the problem still occurred.

Many thanks for looking at this.

Yes a link or some code would be nice

Does the online version have a full doctype (some free hosts insert code or comments above the html and that will send IE into quirks mode).

Can you share the link to the online version with us?
