Disable pdf downloads, enable viewing

Hey, not sure if this is the right forum.

Anyway, I have a client who wants people to be able to view his PDFs but not download them, is this possible?

Thanks.

I don’t think it’s possible to stop people from downloading them as the clients (end user’s) computer has to download a pdf before it can display it. Also in FireFox (I haven’t viewed a pdf in any other browser for a long time), there is an icon in the “pdf toolbar” which when clicked brings up a standard “save file to” dialogue box.

Probably the best you can hope for in terms of locking a file down is to restrict the IP addresses and the times of the day that the files can be accessed at.

I’ve seen PDF files that require a login.

I wonder if it would be possible to have the file open in the browser but require a valid (and unknown) login thus making the saved file more difficult to open? i.e. a one-time hash?
