Hello,
I am planning to add a niche store to a very successful blog I own. The blog is PR 5 and has huge following on social media channels. My aim is to get as much leverage as I can for this store from my existing site and I am wondering how best to go about it. I will mention a few points that are a sort of concern for me.
1. I am in two minds as to whether go for a new domain for the site or develop it as a mycurrentsite.com/store
pros with the first approach is i can get a more keyword rich domain and provide better branding in the long term. cons include that it would virtually have no ranking to start off with though I can provide a good number of back links from my established site.
obviously advantage of the 2nd approach is that search engines already trust my domain and would possibly rank them higher. disadvantage is that the URL it would end being quite long and as my primary blog name does have a hyphen within, it would make it even more difficult for people to remember this.
there is also the 3rd option of getting store.mycurrentsite.com but it has the same issues as the 2nd and a lot of people tend to put in the www. before it which obviously wouldn’t work.
which would you recommend for me and why?
2. I am using a dropshipper for delivering the products to the buyer and another of my concerns is how I should handle payments and the software I should use for this
I would like to handle payments at my end and for each payment I receive I need to automatically deposit a portion of this to the dropshipper. What would you recommend for a store software?
