Default WordPress script links & theme style links & scripts aren't loading

So, I’m moving a website from the current domain to a temporary domain so that I can work on it before I move it over to the new hosting plan. However, for some reason the links for the scripts and stylesheets that get loaded by default by the theme and WordPress aren’t loading.

This is what I’m talking about

If you go to the current site which is live and view the page source then you will see these links.

However, if you go to the dev site and view the page source then you won’t see them.

You have hardcoded the old domain name in parts of the web page. You should NEVER hardcode domain names as it reduces the portability of the site between different environments as you are seeing. Pretty much just very poor foresight which is no surprise given Wordpress. I would figure out a means of not having to hard-code the domain name as that is a HUGE no no and immediate red flag as to the professionalism of the provider who built the site. Not to mention reeks of working on the site DIRECTLY on production…

I do see some urls that are hard coded, but I don’t see anything that would relate to why those files aren’t being loaded.

Are you referring to examples like this?

Also, how do I just show the code on here without having it execute?

If the URLs by IP work, but the URLs by domain do not, my guess is that the DNS has not propagated yet.

How long ago did you switch hosts?

I’ve seen this recommended as a way to speed up WordPress by reducing the number of database calls. OK if the site is “permanently” in place I guess, not so much if otherwise.

The Discourse post editor can use a mix of MarkDown, some bbCode and some HTML.

What I usually do is enclose the code block in 3 backticks

on their own lines. or select the code and use the </> button
