Damn stupid - starting WAMP

Gudday all
About a year ago I installed Wampserver 2.0 on my laptop. It seemed to work ok then.
Now today I tried to us it again.
Went to ‘Start Wamp Server’ icon double clicked. After a pause seemingly nothing. I went to the services window, no visible PHP, MySQL or Apache running. Noticed in system tray little icon that is says ‘WAMP server - server offline’.
Right click on it to get options see WAMPofflineOptions.png. No way to start.
Went to localhost on browser see localhostScreenShot.png. What does it mean?

I do hope that I am doing something really simple but wrong. :frowning:
Please advise.

You didn’t happen to install another web server in the intervening year? Sharing ports is not exactly easy on windows … .

Check your event log – it might provide some clues.

Skype can occupy port 80 as well.
I you have skype running, open it up, go to options > advanced > connection and untick “Use ports 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections”

BTW. You need to left click the WAMP icon in the tray to actually do something with it, not right click.
Extremely counter-intuitive, yes!

I left-clicked as you suggested and found the menu that I was looking for.
I tried the ‘Put Online’ option and shortly received the message shown as “tRYINGtoStartWAMP.png”
I also tried to start all services but there was no visible response. Looking at the services list no Apache, MySQL or PHP being mentioned.

Any more suggestions or do I go nuclear and un-install and re-install WAMP?

Go for the re-install - unless of course as already mentioned SKYPE is interfering and you haven’t yet turned that off.
I only ever now use the Wampserver 2.0 from way back - it’s working well and upgrades from that have always left me messed up.

Try http://localhost/

Does it successfully show the WAMP Server Homepage?

Have you got WAMP set up to process .asp files or are you using IIS for processing .asp files?

The WAMP server homepage regretfully does not appear, just an error message (see 1st post).
Regarding the asp files just whatever would ahve been the default
