CSS root style sheet (basic help please)

Hi All,

I’m having trouble refering back to a css style sheet to a folder that is above the folder I am working in.

I’ve tried things like:

<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="../rootfile.css"></script>

I know this is a basic question but I would really like to have one css file for as many sub-pages as possible.

Thanks in advance

Opening a <link> element but closing a </script> probably won’t be helping

Yes, apart from that, the code you have posted should work whenever you have a stylesheet called “rootfile.css” in the directory one up from the current page. Have you definitely uploaded the stylesheet and has it got the right name?

Does just doing /rootffile.css solve your problem?

Thanks very much -

I got it working by adding another sub-page to the code:

<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="../../rootfile.css"></script>

Didn’t realize I had to include an extra ‘/’ in order to reach the original css.

Cheers

href=“…/whatever.end” refers to a file in the next directory level up.
href=“…/…/whatever.end” refers to a file two directory levels up.
href=“/whatever.end” refers to a file in the root (top) directory.
