CSS help please

I know it can be done with div and p but how can I get that part bold and red?
Is it possible to us b class=“coupon”?
P and div will drop it to a new line.

<p><b>This is the</b><br />
layout I would like to use<br />
Is it possible: <b class=“coupon”>to make this part bold and red in css?</b>
</p>

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I could not really understand what you wanted but hopefully this is what you are asking for

<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">

p
{
font-weight:bold;
color:red;
}
</style>
</head>

<body>

<p>This is a paragraph.</p>

</body>
</html>

Stormy

Thanks for your reply. I just came across a site that was doing what I wanted to do.

.coupon {
color:#990000;
}

This allows me to use <b class=“coupon”>

No matter how many times I read about . and # I get confused on how to use it.

Thanks

The only difference is how specifically an object is identified. . means to relate to a class, which can occur multiple times per page. # means to relate to a specific id which should only appear once in a page (all browsers allow for more than one element to have the same id, but it’s not supposed to work like that).

The way I had to remember it was to utilize my programming thought processes. id’s in database structures are almost always a numeric value, which can be represented by the # sign. Don’t know if that helps you or not.
