Creating Multi-Colored Curvy Graphic Things

Hi. I’m using an old copy of Photoshop 6 I had laying around.

You know those interesting visuals that have curves or lines along with multi-colors sort of like I have pictured here. Does anyone know if they have a name and where I could find some information about how to create them? They do give a nice look to a site.

Thanks, kohoutek. That is a very helpful link.

Being self-taught when it comes to making websites, I have some gaps in my knowledge. I learned last week that some of the ornamental graphics used on websites are called fleurons, vignettes, and other terms.

Do you know what a cupola is? Or a [URL=“http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dormer”]dormer? Everyone has seen them on buildings. But there isn’t a good way to describe them if you don’t know what they are called.

Yes, that’s true. Actually, I’m not sure there’s a true term for it. I just call them abstract luminescent waves.

Note: Just in order to look serious (that is, if we can look serious) I moved all the jokes somewhere else… and from now on I’ll behave and I stay on topic

But I was having fun :frowning:

We didn’t even have a term for them back when I did computer graphics. We just referred to them as lines. I am rather fond of them though; they add a certain elegance to an image and make good use of what might otherwise be negative space.

You should really click me as it’s the exact same thread. I’m surprised no one mentioned it.

Actually, the thread you linked to came after this one and does include a reference and a link back to this one.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

Huh. I still think it’s a good explanation
