Creating gallery using Pages

Hi, I am in the process of implementing a Gallery into my wordpress website.

I have set it up as follows:

Page: Gallery (contains html link to subpage 2009).

Subpage: 2009 (contains html link to Gallery XXXX)
Subpage: 2009 Gallery XXXX (contains thumbs of every image, each thumb links to subpage containing the full-size picture)

Subpage: Picture One

Subpage: Picture Two

Subpage: Picture Three

Subpage: Picture Four

I just want to know, is there a better, smarter way of doing this without using someone elses plugin/addon? If not, is there any quicker way of linking from the thumbs to the full size pictures without having to constantly check page numbers (using default page-url-system, so the page_id=82 etc is always so randomly incremented, no way to just go from page to page and change the link, I have to check all the time) and pasting into my code?

The [gallery] feature?

What’s that?

solved using [gallery] feature.
