Create color palette based upon images within articles?

I am unsure how to proceed with this, but i’m hoping you wise folks will be able to help me here.

I’m wanting to create a feature where whenever I upload pictures into articles, they will automatically insert a little color palette of the colors used in that picture.

I tend to create articles of art which are usually inputted via the “gallery” option, and would like to include colors into that too so it helps other artists know what colors they could use.

Tried looking up for a plugin that may do this for me, but for the life of me I cant find anything - does anyone have any suggestions or wish to help me on this?

I was looking for something similar, but for one image and I liked Pictaculous. I noticed there is an API you could try (note: I’ve never tried it)

There’s also Color Thief. I don’t know if this is something you could use or adapt it’s idea, but I really like to use it.
