Content Management System

I recently encountered a situation where a woman had a really ugly website, and a friend and I were redesigning her brand (she didn’t really have one to begin with). So the next thing on the list was her website. She was using an online do-it-yourselfer where she could input the text she wanted via a web application and it would update it on her site. This gave her control over her content. Great! But the problem is that she was wary to do a new, much better website, because she was worried about not being able to do her own updates.

I know she could purchase Contribute, or some software, but I was wondering if there is an online solution, so she doesn’t have to purchase and learn a different piece of software? Is there something that you know of, where I can design the site, code it up, and then it can be loaded into an online service as a template so she can still make her own changes online?

Is this something Joomla! does? I toured their site but couldn’t get an idea if this is what they specifically provide.

There is lots of options out there and Google will give you plenty of answers.
if you just want a CMS you can “plug in” to parts of the site checkout Perch or SurrealCMS.

I found one called CushyCMS that looked promising. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations, services they love etc, so I’ll check those out that you mentioned.

Have you looked at something as simple and cheap as PulseCMS ?

Make a web site the way you normally do, then create editable areas, which are loaded as php includes.

Another CMS with editable sections you can take a look at:
PageLime - Simple CMS for Web Designers

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Pagelime looks pretty cool. I like the live page editing. That’s good for clients to visualize the changes directly on the page.
