Considering Advertising - A New Twist on How to do it?

Recently, I have committed to having 5 guys program websites for me for a year. This means I need to get on the ball and bring in work! My values say also that I should help others, so I was thinking about doing the following. Tell me your thoughts.

Lets say for example, I have $5,000 to advertise with. I can do a combination of the following: SEO, PPC, Banner ads, directory placement, magazine ads, etc.

OR

I could hire a sales guys for a few months to see how it goes.

OR

I could spend that $5,000 on my programmers and have them do nothing but pro-bono work for churches and such.

Thoughts?

Hmmmm…good questions!

I think pro-bono work is good when just starting out in business, but don’t think I’d commit all my resources to this.

Seo and PPC etc…all possibly good things worth doing at some point, but results can take time to materialize.

I think hiring a sales guy who’s willing to go out and meet people or telemarket is probably the most direct way to sales out of the options you listed - but to that I’d add that you might also look for companies that already do business with your ideal client (you do know who that is, don’t you?) and joint venture with them to promote your services to their clients. Do this on a pay per sale basis and you could keep the cash you have on hand now and only pay a referral partner once they send some business your way.

Cheers,

Steve
