But going through my ftp, I can’t find these files…

Any thoughts?

Commonly it’s gzip compression via the server itself that is performed.

See: How To Optimize Your Site With GZIP Compression

Ahh that will be why…

Tried the code… getting a 500 internal server error however.

Glad to have helped.

You’ll get better assistance on this in the Apache Configuration forum.

thanks…

Am currently contacting my server as am now locked out my site. I thought it might be a confliction with wp-cache… I deleted that via ftp but my .htaccess file has gone missing erkk

Thanks again… am sure I will sort it out and try it again

Are you sure it has actually gone missing. The dot on the front makes it a hidden file so maybe you just have things set to not list hidden files.

D’oh!

All sorted now

Many thanks…

Back to GIZPS then :stuck_out_tongue:

install the server extension for gzip compression and from use. htaccess to activate it in public_html

I asked, my server doesn’t do that. :frowning: meh

The people that you asked should also be able to advise you on alternatives that they do support. Either that, or they’ll tell you that they have no way to do it.

Whichever occurs, you’ll then have a resolution to the issue.

Yeah, I would have to move to a dedicated server they said.

I can’t afford that until the site starts making money though
