Choosing the best software for the job: I need these features

Thanks for taking a look at this thread.

I’m currently quoting for an online shop we’re looking to work on it.

I’ve had experience of JShop and open-source like ZenCart before, but would like to list some key features the client needs and see if any solutions tick all/any of the boxes.

Here goes…

  • 2 Member Types (Trade / Customer - Trade will get discounts/special offers)
  • Admin - Show levels of Stock, Current Orders, Enquiries and Manage Product Listings/Special Offers
  • Admin/Customer - Can both view Order History/Status
  • SAGE Integration
  • Each unique product has different costs based on the “size” selected
  • Good statistics ability to view popular items, “drop-out” counts or other bits of useful marketing info
  • CMS feature to allow them to make alts to other pages on the web site
  • Tell a Friend feature
  • Related Products feature
  • Gift
  • Newsletter
  • Ability to dispatch multiple items to multiple locations
  • Payment Details stored on the Server *
  • = not sure how do-able this may be.

Why not, I’m sure there are a lot of 3rd party connectors.

I assume that most modern carts support customizable import/export file format for store data. Will such an option be suitable for you, or should an integration be fully seamless and automatic?

As far I know Sage Line 50 integration is included into Magento Enterprise edition only.

We are working on this as well, and plan to include it into all Avactis editions.

It seems the Sage Line 50 integration is important to the client.

It looks like the only guys that support this are Magento.

Anyone know anyone else who supports this?

Aaah. Apologies. Gift was so before checkout is complete, they can assign certain items to be Gifts. And assign a postal address for each gift item.

Do you think Avactis would cover all of the above points?

What shipping method you plan to use for shipping cost calculation?

Also, what is “Gift” option you mentioned, it is Gift coupons, Wish list for gifts or something else?

I’ve looked through JShop, Prestashop, Interspire, Avactis, Magento and CubeCart with these points above.

I now need to contact each company directly to ask more detailed questions that couldn’t be answered on their site.

  • Calculate postage of multiple items. An items postage is based on Weight, so how would I calculate postage for multiple items at varying weights?

Yes, this is right. But you can also buy the connector separately it seems.
