You have various styles in style.css setting the color to white (#fff):

line 722

#footer {
color: #FFF;

line 730

#footer-wrapper {
color: #FFF;

line 1050

.colophon-widget {
color: #FFF;
text-align: center;
font-size: 15px;

Still cannot get it to change, but thanks for your reply.

If you want further help, describe what you are trying to do etc. There has been some change, but you haven’t changed the color at line 1050 yet.

That line does not seem to change it. Is it possible to just put a white or grey shaded box in the background of the text I have identified in the picture and change all the font to black?

Could you perhaps change it anyway? You still have this:

.colophon-widget {
color: #FFF;
text-align: center;
font-size: 15px;

  1. Open your styles.css file, go to line 1050:
.colophon-widget {
  background: none;
  min-height: 0;
  color: #ffffff;
  border: none;
  text-align: center;
  font-size: 15px;
  1. Change color for example to: color: #000;

  2. Save style.css file, delete your browser history and refresh the webpage. Your text color should have changed to black (you can change to whatever color you want).

Create a child theme for your main theme:
(not strictly necessary but will save time in long run)

E.g. see

Copy footer.php from main theme directory to child theme directory.

Go to Appearance \ Editor \ footer.php and text should look like

  • The template for displaying the footer.
  • Contains footer content and the closing of the
  • #main and #page div elements.
  • @package WordPress
  • @subpackage Twenty_Twelve
  • @since Twenty Twelve 1.0
    </div><!-- #main .wrapper –>
    <footer id=“colophon” role=“contentinfo”>
    <div class=“site-info”>
    <?php do_action( ‘twentytwelve_credits’ ); ?>
    <a style=“color: #0000ff;” href=“<?php echo esc_url( __( ‘’, ‘twentytwelve’ ) ); ?>” title=“<?php esc_attr_e( ‘Semantic Personal Publishing Platform’, ‘twentytwelve’ ); ?>”><?php printf( __( ’ %s’, ‘twentytwelve’ ), ‘WordPress’ ); ?></a>
    </div><!-- .site-info –>
    </footer><!-- #colophon –>
    </div><!-- #page –>

<?php wp_footer(); ?>

Let me know if more detail required.

Apologies for the poor formating:

		&lt;a style="color: #0000ff;" href="&lt;?php echo esc_url( __( '', 'twentytwelve' ) ); ?&gt;" title="
