Certifications to advance my career?

I would like to build up my resume with new certification. My field is web design/ web development.
What steps have you taken to get certified?

Most web developers I know don’t bother with certifications. They really don’t help that much. What you need to do is show samples of work you actually have done, not some certification from an establishment that may or may not be reputable. Focus on your abilities and skills and showcase them.

in acute you have no need of certificate you just resent your previous project to show you knowledge of your level of expertise. but if you want to get a certificate you can get it from microsoft

Perhaps you could link to those MS qualification you believe are relevant to the OP’s field. I wasn’t aware MS provided certification for web design and development.

That’s good to know, because most of what I learned was from on the job. However, my Supervisor stressed my education and certificates for this job I am applying for. It will work out.

Well, Microsoft does now offer more certifications than I had last been aware of.

The best I can tell without digging deeper is they are Microsoft specific and not “general” design or development related.

I don’t know how important any of those would be in a non-MS shop (except maybe in a “since he could learn that he should be able to learn this” way), but I imagine they could be very influential in getting hired by a MS shop.

Hello there! Based on my experience, I don’t think having a certification would do much to build up your resume… Most of the employers I have dealt with in the past don’t really care about this as they want to see results. So most of the time I usually end up sending them some of the best examples of my work in the past and let them evaluate my skill based on it to see if I’m really fit for the job…

At least this is my opinion on this matter…
