Can't display http://localhost/ in browser, Apache running

I’ve installed Apache for all users, port 80 having shut off IIS. The Apache Services Monitor displays a green arrow and Apache appears to be running, but when entering http://localhost/ in the IE and Safari (PC) browsers, they cannot display or connect to http://localhost/. Windows diagnostics displays this message: The device or resource (localhost) is not set up to accept connections on port “The World Wide Web service (HTTP)”.

Any ideas? I’m running Symantec Endpoint Protection which controls Windows Firewall.

Do you have skype running? If so, open it up, go to tools > options > advanced > connection and untick “Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections”
Then restart the computer, restarting the two programs won’t cut it.

If that doesn’t work (or if you don’t have skype) it’s time to configure your firewall (although localhost <-> localhost traffic is normally allowed by default AFAIK).
