Buying music from iTunes

Hi guys!

One of my favourite bands has their music available for buying only on iTunes. Is it possible to purchase MP3 files from iTunes then use them in other apps, generic MP3 players and so on, without having them locked inside iTunes?

If I recall correctly, they use AAC which should work with regular MP3 players. I think they also provide a way to convert it to other formats within the application.

You can save as MP3 but you need to separately download and install the codec if I remember rightly.
