Burst Cancelled My Account

I have been with Burst for more than 4 years!

Just got an email from them saying my account is cancelled!

Anyone else get this? Anyone know what’s up?

[COLOR=black][FONT=&quot]The Internet marketplace changes and evolves rapidly. Burst has evolved with the industry changes. For example, in the past, we may have accepted websites that we would not accept for representation today. However, we have changed our acceptance and representation policies.

We realize you have been a long-standing member of Burst and we appreciate your loyalty to us. We have been reviewing all of our websites to see if they align with our current strategy. If we feel our sales efforts are not the best match at this time, we decline the opportunity to continue the relationship.

Your Burst account has been inactivated. Please remove any Burst sourcecode from the site(s). Any payment due to you will be sent out on our regular payment schedule.

Sounds like they revised their terms of service and you were under violation of the new terms of service.

Did they give a 30-day warning?

Nope. No warning.

In fact I’ve received several insertion orders in the last couple of weeks from them!

They called!

It is just an old adcode that is inactive.

But the email didn’t say that. Apparently lots of publishers are confused today!!

My account was cancelled today, too… without ANY notice, 30-day or otherwise. I’ve been with them for over ten years and have strictly adhered to their policies. I only have one ad code so it doesn’t look like it was an error. I’ve received a number of insertion orders, too. In fact one came through about an hour before the cancellation notice.

They certainly weren’t the only company representing my site and weren’t even the best performing. But I’ve been loyal to them since they were the first one to represent my site. Loyalty doesn’t have any benefits I guess, not even the courtesy of a few days notice.

burst was bought by another company and it seems like the new owner want to weed out non performing sites in order to bring new advertisers. you guys have done nothing wrong

Non-performing? We’re the fifth most popular site in a very competitive category. With all due respect, I don’t think over 670,000 visitors and nearly eight million page views a month is non-performing, and that’s up 23% from last year, and we’ve been up about that much every year for the past eight. It wasn’t a performance issue… I don’t know what it was.

Have you contacted the company about it? Gotten in touch with a live person?

Yeah. They say they “can’t” sell our site even though we’ve received a number of insertion orders. They also said there is nothing wrong with the site. The other companies that represent the site beg for more inventory. Sometimes we can, but most of the time we’ve given Burst a good portion of the traffic since they’ve been with us since the beginning and they generally perform pretty good.

What really ticks me off is zero notice meant we had to spend hours rearranging code and networks. We’re building a new and improved site for release by May 1. We didn’t need this suddenly dropped on us.

And to top it off? They asked if they could contact us with future opportunities. After being treated like this? Forget it!

We’re not going to be financially hurt by this (in fact it might be a benefit). The other ad networks can take up the slack. But this should be a warning to everyone about Burst and their new company. Loyalty will not be appreciated in any way.

I can understand changing priorities, if that is what they’re doing. Did they ask if our site could accommodate their new focus? No. Did they give any notice or warning the priorities were changing and we’d no longer be eligible? No. Do they care about sites that are loyal to them? Absolutely not.

The same thing just happened to me. I’ve been with Burst Media for 9 years, and they closed my account without warning or explanation. This was one of the most unprofessional things I’ve experienced in online business.

wxforyou, what other networks do you use? (please PM me if you don’t want to post publicly)

non- performing sites are measured by conversions and not by how many views and clicks you send them.

i think it’s totally unprofessional to cancell your account without giving you any time to remove their tags. what if your are sick, you could lose alot of money. shame on them

Yep, one of my sites just got delete a day or so ago too, again with no warning or even an email to explain it yet. And again it’s not a proformance problem, because they were my top tier on that site, and it’s been increasing recently.

Gonna keep a close eye on my other site - and I hope they do pay the money owing!

I would not worry about payments
Im sure you will get paid
